Tasmia grew up in Connecticut. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Deaf Studies at Boston University. She received her Doctor of Medicine diploma in 2022 from Medical University of the Americas.
She is proficient in American Sign Language, Bangla, and Spanish.
Currently she is doing research with the Yale Department of Psychiatry at the TMS and Ketamine Clinic.
She is currently a student administrator of Brooklyn Brain and Mind Institute research group at Interfaith Medical Center. She has published 13 psychiatry papers during this time. She recently presented two posters at the American Psychiatric Association Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana this May of 2022.
She completed a minor in Deaf Studies at Boston University and learned American Sign Language. She then went on to volunteer at Deaf Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts. She volunteered at American School for the Deaf.
Currently Tasmia is a member of Connecticut Association of the Deaf. She works with Luisa Gasco-Soboleski (President of the CT Association of the Deaf) and Leslie Warren (CEO of CoSign CT) in spreading awareness and training medical professionals to better serve the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of hearing patient community.
